A large mural honoring George Floyd was recently vandalized in downtown Houston, confirmed by media reports.
Texas police confirmed the news about how vandalism took center stage recently in Houston, leading to unidentified miscreants defacing the entire mural with a racist themed slur.
Houston’s district Police Chief, Troy Finner, confirmed how authorities were currently in the process of investigating the incident and hence couldn’t reveal too many details about the case.
The incident took place on Thursday, April 22nd, confirmed reports.
Speaking to a local news outlet recently, the police chief went on to mention how the lead artist that created the mural has taken a bold step and covered up all the racial-themed slurs that had made their way to the mural. Now, he believes the painting has finally been restored.
Finner used the term ‘knucklehead’ for the vandals that were involved in the incident overnight. However, he also mentioned that he had zero clues regarding what their actual motive could be in the first place. In the same way, he did speak about hate could be a major factor involved.
The shocking news came just one day after the verdict of the Derek Chauvin case was revealed by the jury who spent a record-breaking short amount of time to reach their decision.
The former cop from Minneapolis was charged with three counts which included manslaughter, second-degree unintentional murder, and third-degree murder. The nation anxiously awaited the decision with many smiling and breathing a sigh of relief when the verdict came.
Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd by kneeling down upon his neck for nearly nine minutes, causing him to run of out-breath and eventually die helplessly.
Derek Chauvin’s sentence is due in around 8 weeks. And until then, he will stay in the high profile and secure jail, while being closely monitored for suicide watch.
