A former staff member lambasted the former president, Donald Trump, and described him as a ‘cruel con man’.
In an interview with MSNBC, former Trump admin official Miles Taylor calls the ex-POTUS as a ‘cruel con artist that wants to destroy people’.
An investigation by The New York Times this week shocked the country after finding out that Trump’s re-election campaign was forced to refund more than $122 million to its donors.
According to the investigation, the benefactors inadvertently signed up for recurring donations.
The donors thought they were making a one-time donation for Trump’s campaign, but this was not the case.
They were dismayed to find that the money has been automatically debited to their accounts weekly. Simply because they did not check a tick box to opt-out which has been heavily buried —if not hidden— in the disclaimer’s fine print.
“This man is a grifter, he’s a con artist and he’s cruel,” Taylor said in MSNBC. “We have to look back at this period and learn a lesson and see the total damage done by bad rhetoric coming from our nation’s leaders, and how much of an effect it can have on our country and our own civility as Americans.”
The New York Times reported that one person who repeatedly had money debited from his account was a cancer patient, and his entire funds are now zeroed-out, and could not afford to pay rent or bills.
“That was especially devastating,” Taylor told MSNBC, adding that his mother is a hospice nurse, so he is well aware of ‘how difficult life is for people at end of life’. “And to raid someone of their money at the end of their life has got to add onto that hardship for the whole family.”
