A teen from Florida was recently slapped with a 45-year prison sentence after admitting he murdered his mother over a bad grade.
17-year-old Gregory Ramos appeared in front of Volusia County court where he boldly admitted strangling his own mother till she died on the spot. The shocking incident took place in the year 2018 but he was recently charged for the gruesome murder.
The teen explained how the fight got real ugly over the bad grade in which his mother confronted him for receiving a D.
While in court, the teen’s loved ones stood before him and that’s when he apologized to his family for carrying out the heinous crime. Gregory who just turned 17, is guilty of killing his 46-year-old mother, Gail Cleavenger in November 2018.
According to news sources, the judge mentioned how Ramos’ sentence may be reviewed after 25 years. And that meant after he is released from prison, he would remain on probation for the rest of his life, as reported by news outlets.
Ramos pleaded guilty just last month to horrifying first-degree murder charges. This included tampering with the evidence put forward as well as abuse of the dead body too.
Investigators following the case mentioned how the then 15-year-old strangled his mother to death using his bare hands. And that was when she confronted him for the D he received.
After committing the horrifying crime, he used a wheelbarrow to transport her body inside a van, right before burying her underneath a fire pit in the church, claimed authorities.
Meanwhile, Ramos and his two friends staged the entire crime as if it was a home burglary incident. Now, the friends each face around 30 years in jail, in case they’re convicted of being accessories in the case. This would be after the fact of premeditated first-degree murder.
