A British father of two died from cancer recently, after begging for an MRI scan, amid the growing Coronavirus pandemic.
News reported confirmed how the 27-year-old dad from Leeds died from the deadly illness, just months after we went on begging for his MRI scan. Officials confirmed that the exact reason for his delay related to a slowdown amid the growing number of COVID-19 cases. Currently, the UK’s health sector is also feeling the pressure of coping with the ongoing crisis.
Sherwin Hall, a resident of Leeds in West Yorkshire, passed away on December 3rd. The tragic incident took place following his grave illness which began around a year earlier.
Media sources explained how the 27-year-old father first started feeling his symptoms in September of 2019. He complained of pain in his groin region. Soon after that, he didn’t pay much heed as the pain subsided on its own. However, it reappeared in January of the following year. On that note, he visited doctors who prescribed him antibiotics.
All of the details surrounding his case were revealed via his GoFundMe page, back in the month of May.
Just when Sherwin Hall thought he was feeling fine, his outbreaks of pain returned. And this time, it looked like a ‘vengeance.’ By march, he complained of intense pain in his right leg as well as the buttocks region. He also wrote about a stony hard lump in his rectum area.
When Sherwin returned back to the hospital, doctors were convinced that he had contracted a sexually transmitted illness. In addition, they didn’t listen to his complaints about how he couldn’t have an STI. The doctor’s confidence was so prominent that Sherwin simply couldn’t beg to disagree. Therefore, he started believing them too.
The 27-year-old thought to himself that maybe he picked it up from using a public toilet. Unfortunately, none of his medical results matched with the doctor’s diagnosis. All of the blood tests with swabs came out clear. However, his pain was so severe that he had no option but to return to the hospital.
And that’s when he begged doctors. All he wanted was a scan. Another doctor prescribed him more antibiotics but the Leeds citizen knew that matters kept getting worse. He decided to do his own research. And that’s when he begged other doctors for an MRI scan.
His GP as well as consultant informed him how he simply couldn’t get a scan done. And that’s because all of the services were running at a slow pace due to the pandemic. By that point, his pain reached an excruciating level. There were suicidal thoughts surrounding him too.
On May 26, they revealed how doctors finally conducted a scan. There was a mega 5.5-inch mass, located in his pelvis. Moreover, The Sun reported how he also had 30 lung tumors too. He recently died, leaving behind his beautiful wife and 9-month-old child.
Today, loved ones mourn his loss. They feel that he would still be here today if they did the scan earlier. “My husband died of cancer- but it was the pandemic that really killed him.”
