Citizens from Texas mentioned how they believe energy companies are making the most of the devastating winter storm that lashed the state recently, leaving millions without power. And that’s because the electric bills for the Lone Star State skyrocketed.

For instance, they went as high as $17,000 for just one month, right after the historic winter storm Uri struck the state in the worst manner imaginable. Moreover, the power outage sparked another huge demand for heating resources as temperatures dropped to sub-zero record lows, confirmed reports on Friday.

One Dallas resident by the name of Ty Williams confirmed how he was gobsmacked and shocked to the core when he laid eyes on his winter electricity bill for this month. He added how it shockingly soared by more than $600 when compared to last month. And that meant he would be liable to cover the mega $17,000 bill so far for the month of February.

“How in the world can anyone even pay that,” he added. “I mean you start off with a couple of hundred dollars in a month and then you come up with this. There is simply no logic and no way about this situation,” he fumed.

On the other hand, media reports revealed how the price for power in Texas spiked to major highs, beginning from just $50 and then going up to an average of $9000 per Megawatt. In addition, some places that had major supply and demand disasters experienced worsening hikes.
