A firefighter named Sivad Jhonson died of drowning while saving three lives in front of his 10-year daughter.
He was walking near Belle isle along with his 10-years old on Friday when both of them heard screams of three girls for help.
On hearing the call for help, he plunged into the river and saved all three of them. After around 45 minutes of the incident, he failed to show up again at the surface. His 10-year-old daughter was there the whole time.
After the continuous efforts of the rescue team, his dead body was hauled from the Detroit River on Saturday. The real heroic character of him that stood out the most, was that he was not on duty at that time But, being a first-line responder, he considered it his duty to help the girls.
No sooner these frontline warriors hear a call for help than they save the ones in trouble. The state police also took this stance saying that the frontline responders are never off-duty.
Michigan state police also shed some light on the possibility of the cause of death. They said it is possible he got flowed with the rip-current while no one noticed. After the 45 minutes of rescue, his little daughter started to think that something is wrong because her dad was not showing up.
Hence, she immediately called 911. This sequence of events was also confirmed by local authorities.
After this, the Detroit Fire Department started the search and his body was found on Saturday afternoon after a 6-hour long search as the Deputy Commissioner of this department announced.
He was 48 and was living a happy life until this day when his own daughter had to watch him die. A father’s death in front of his daughter is a heart-wrenching event.
Hopefully, the family of this warrior will be taken care of. May the soul of this angelic man rest in peace.
