Many of the demonstrators held placards, where it was written, ‘I am Samuel’ which repeated the ‘I am Charlie’ rally after the 2015 attack on the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, which published caricatures of Mohammed.
Across the Place de la Republique, a moment of silence was honored and broken by applause and followed the French national anthem.
People also gathered in other cities, such as Lyon, Toulouse, Strasbourg, Nantes, Marseille, Lille and Bordeaux.

Witnesses declared that they heard Anzorov, the Chechen-born attacker yell ‘Allahu Akbar’ which means ‘God is the Greatest’ before he was shot by police 550 meters away from the murder.
Investigations are concentrating on Brahim Chnina, the father of a 13-year-old girl (One of Paty’s students), who shared all the information about the teacher and the school online.
Brahim Chnina and his Islamic activist friend, Abdelhakim Sefrioui, were together with 11 people who had been arrested due to connection to the attack.
During class on the freedom of speech, the teacher had asked Muslim students to leave the room before he shows the caricature of the Prophet Mohammed. Nevertheless, one student stayed by mistake, and later she told her Muslim parents.
