Famous football star and Ex 49ers player, Dana Stubblefield, was convicted for rape on Monday.
Similarly, the court also gave the 49-year old lifetime sentence in prison.
According to reports, Stubblefield raped a disabled woman. Similarly, prosecutors explained how the star lured his victim towards his residence while promising her a job for babysitting.
A well-equipped jury found the star guilty of carrying out forceful rape, false imprisonment, as well as forced oral copulation. And that’s when they acquitted the 49-year-old of raping an individual who was incapable of providing consent.
Prosecutors also reported how the ex 49er star was guilty of using a gun during a planned assault upon the victim. Other reports showed how Stubblefield could face up to 15 long years in prison.
The famous football player was awarded the NFL Defensive Player for the year 1997 while receiving accolades for Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1993. Likewise, he played an enduring defensive tackle for famed teams such as Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and the Washington Redskins.
A local newspaper claims that the final verdict of the trial came after a daunting nine-month long period, and exactly five years since the victim reported her sexual assault to the police, in April 2015.
Prosecutors further explained gruesome details of the case relating to how Stubblefield cleverly contacted the victim through a babysitting website. And that’s when he arranged a personal interview, just one day before the assault.
According to the Morgan Hill Police Department, the interview lasted for more than 20 minutes. Furthermore, the 49-year-old sports star texted the victim, post-interview, claiming how he wished to pay for her time, on that day. And that is why she returned to his residence to accept her dues.
The report also revealed how the 49-year-old granted the victim $80, after raping her, and then let her go. The entire incident shook the victim completely, leading her towards the police station to file her rape complaint. Similarly, details showed how the DNA collected as evidence, matched Stubblefield’s.
On the other hand, defense attorneys argued with their stance, claiming that no such incident of rape took place. They further accused the victim of giving her consent to sex.
This isn’t the first time that the 49ers star was held accountable for the crime. He’s had several run-ins with the police in the past too.
