A football coach father brutally raped and killed his 10-month-old daughter in Pennsylvania.
According to reports, police arrested the culprit for raping his innocent child, right before she died at the hospital. Meanwhile, 29-year-old Austin Stevens from Providence Township received charges for aggravated sexual assault. This includes rape of a minor and involuntary deviant sexual intercourse.
Police say that the criminal endangered the welfare of his innocent child and is a threat to the community. Little baby Zara Scruggs was only 10 months old before she died through the inhuman actions of her father.
According to a recent press release, Montgomery’s County District Attorney Office says that the local police responded to an emergency call. It related to a complaint made regarding an infant who wasn’t responding. And that’s when an emergency squad rushed to the address mentioned, 3400 block of Germantown Road.
Upon arrival, the trained officers started to perform CPR on the child. Soon, they transported little Zara to Einstein’s Medical Center in Montgomery. However, medical experts pronounced her dead, within 2 hours of her arrival.
On that note, police received a search warrant to go through Steven’s documents and personal property.
Upon searching, they discovered some rather horrifying news.
Stevens’ phone contained multiple Google searches. And they related to how to know if a baby stops breathing. This included one of the most shocking ones of them all, ‘how do you know if a baby is dead.’
Likewise, the alleged rapist exchanged several social media texts regarding two women. However, he failed to mention his daughter’s status to them, prosecutors revealed.
When teams searched Stevens’ apartment upstairs, they found Zara’s diaper that she wore during her alleged rape attempt. Therefore, the press release also revealed how the diaper was full of blood. At the same time, the autopsy report revealed how the little child, who just learned how to take her first steps, suffered from severe anal and rectal damage.
She even received a massive blow to her head. The attorney’s office termed the incident as ‘extremely disturbing’. The fact that her father carried out such a heinous crime is unbelievable. Above all, his inaction to save her life is deeply saddening.
Currently, Stevens is put in the district county jail with a $1 million bail, as he awaits a hearing on October 13.
