In the UK, a couple who invested a lot in pink baby gear for their first daughter was shocked to discover that it was a boy.
Karl Nunn, 30, and Lauren Keen, 26, were both told to expect a baby girl during their one and only ultrasound scan at 20 weeks.
The couple already has sons, Abel, 5, and Opie, 3, and Lauren thought she will finally have her “precious dolly”.
But in a surprising turn of events, the couple got a third son instead named Dexter.
“The doctor suddenly said, ‘did you say you were having a girl?’ Lauren recalled while giving birth. “At the same time Karl shouted, ‘Lauren, our baby has balls’”.
The now mother of three agreed to tie her tubes after Dexter’s birth and had to make the swift decision to go ahead.
“I didn’t want to have another baby for the sake of trying for a girl,” Lauren said. “That wouldn’t be fair on that child.”
“I am grateful to have three beautiful and healthy children.”
