A 20-year-old Black man was recently shot dead by a Brooklyn center police officer, sparking a series of protests in the area.
The tragic incident took place after the 20-year-old driver was pulled over for a bizarre cause that centered around an air freshener hanging from his mirror. But what really raised plenty of eyebrows across the board is how the incident took place TEN miles away from where George Floyd was killed by a Minneapolis-based police officer too.
20-year-old Daunte Wright received bullets after a Brooklyn cop shot him in the chest on Sunday, following a routine stop at a traffic signal.
Now, police officers have failed to specify whether or not the driver was armed or not, during the time of the deadly incident.
According to local media outlets, officers went ahead and pulling over Daunte Wright for a certain traffic violation with a full determination that he possessed an outstanding warrant. In addition, Brooklyn center’s police officers attempted to arrest him. But, Wright went back towards the vehicle, causing the officer to pull the trigger upon him.
One officer went ahead and discharged his firearm, striking Wright, while the other began traveling for a few blocks, right before crashing into another vehicle. Meanwhile, reports confirmed how Wright passed away while still inside his vehicle.
On the other hand, the victim’s mother claims how her son attempted to call her up after being pulled over by the cops so that he could receive some information relating to insurance. And that’s because the vehicle had just been handed over to him.
“My son told me that the cops stopped him over because he had an air freshener hanging from his rear side mirror. And that according to them is illegal in the state of Minnesota.
After the gruesome incident took place, around 500 rioters took to the street to engage in violent protests against the area’s law enforcement agencies. This resulted in a major clash on the streets with police deploying tear gas and plenty of flash-bang grenades too.
