Heartbreaking footage shows cops from Colorado laughing and fist-bumping after seeing a video of themselves slamming a woman with dementia during her arrest.
Loveland police officers had arrested 73-year-old Karen Garner, right after reports confirmed that she walked out of Walmart without paying her $13 bill.
Local media outlets confirmed how the footage was taken from one of the officer’s body cameras. It clearly showed the exact moment when the officer slammed the woman, who reportedly suffers from dementia to the ground. The shocking behavior of Austin Hopp and Daria Jalali who happened to be present on duty that day resulted in the woman fracturing her elbow and in the end, dislocating her shoulder too.
The shocking video footage was released on Monday by one of the attorneys handling Garner’s side of the family. That showed the exact moment when the officers started to laugh at their own body camera footage entailing the 73-year old’s arrest, just hours later.
One of the police officers’ can also be heard mentioning to his partner, ‘are you ready for the pop?’ This was the exact moment when the old lady’s arm came out of the socket and became dislocated.
On the other hand, the attorney also mentioned that as the officers laughed and went about fist-bumping one another all through the video, the old woman sat several feet away in a cell, crying with extreme pain.
The attorney immediately filed a lawsuit that was in line with the federal civil rights law against the officer who carried out the heinous crime. Authorities confirmed how the shocking incident took place on the 15th of April.
Now, state prosecutors claim that a criminal investigation into the case has been opened for both officers Hopp and Jalali, alongside their supervisor.
