As the Derek Chuavin murder trial takes center stage and the nation waits for the final verdict, George Clooney gave out his two cents on the matter.
“If Derek Chauvin is so confident, he should let someone kneel on his neck,” Clooney mentioned boldly. The former cop from Minneapolis is currently in the midst of his murder trial where he faces charges for both murder and manslaughter.
Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd’s neck for a staggering period of nine minutes outside the grocery store in Minneapolis, in the year 2020. After the gruesome incident, George Floyd died moments later.
Now, the ex-officers team has mentioned in their statement that George Floyd had in fact passed away from using an excessive amount of drugs, and not due to the actions of the police officer who brutally knelt upon his neck.
Meanwhile, Derek Chauvin’s trial was covered by plenty of media outlets from around the globe. And if there is one person who has had a keen eye on the story as a whole, it’s George Clooney.
He has reportedly been in constant contact with the Attorney that is currently representing Floyd’s side of the family, Benjamin Crump. At the same time, the actor spoke about how he truly wishes that George Floyd’s children live in a much better world.
Floyd left behind his wife and two twin kids which include 3-year-old Ella and Alexnder.
Talking about his conversations with the Oscar-winning actor, Crump also spoke about how he met Clooney when he appeared on the View, just this month. Therefore that was the time when he suggested Derek Chauvin should actually volunteer himself and allow someone to kneel upon him for several minutes. This is because the actor felt that the ex-cop was behaving so overconfident about how doing such an act could not kill an individual.
