Shock waves were generated across numerous nations as Chinese Ambassador to Israel, Du Wei was recently found dead at his apartment home in Herzliya.
Mr. Du’s mysterious death at the age of 57 has left many speculations. His body was found in his apartment home’s bed. The real cause of his death is still under investigation.
Du Wei was recently appointed as China’s Ambassador for Israel in February. He had previously also served as China’s leading envoy to the state of Ukraine.
Israeli Police officials have reportedly spoken to news agency Reuters, claiming that a natural process of investigation was currently underway. As part of normal protocol, police units have been mobilized to his home.
At the same time, Israeli based TV channel, Channel 12, has quoted anonymous medical sources, stating that many early indications pointed towards a natural cause of Mr. Du’s death during sleep.
The embassy’s website contains a message by the former ambassador in February after his appointment, where he is seen praising the strong bond and relations between the countries of China and Israel. Mr. Du termed Israel as the “start-up nation” while praising China’s potential as “the second-largest economy in the world.”
Recently, Mr. Du’s embassy could be seen possessing a serious standpoint upon the critical remarks offered by U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, who criticized China’s role regarding the handling of the recent Corona Pandemic upon his recent Israeli visit.
The Jerusalem Post published the embassy’s response where Mr. Pompeo’s remarks were condemned and referred to as “absurd comments.” The embassy also denied China’s attempt to cover up the Corona Virus Crisis.
Mr. Du has left behind his wife and one child, both residing outside the country.
