Another tragic incident shook the residents of Shoreditch, East London as a baby fell from a window on the ninth floor apartment of the Gardener Court Building.
Residents shared their shock with the media saying they ran to the sounds of a big bang on the floor and a lot of screaming only to find out that a toddler fell from a flat on the ninth floor.
The police and ambulance came immediately on the scene but the little baby was declared dead on spot.
One resident who witnessed the whole scene after the baby fell said he saw the father, who is a 40-year old man, shaking his head with his hands on his face saying “no, no”.
He then looked up, the window was opened and a child was peering to whom the father said “get inside”.
Toddler’s mother said she is an epileptic patient and she almost had a fit attack when she realized of the tragedy that befell on her already. She also said she couldn’t sleep the whole night as her body was twisting and turning.
This tragic and shocking incident triggered outrage and anger as a lot of inhabitants started questioning the building’s safety measurements. Isabella Peters said the administration should look over its windows safety.
One resident living on the 16th floor with two of his young children posted a picture of the window on social media saying the window, when opened, leaves a big gap with no safety measurements.
The family is believed to have moved to the place just one year before.
The police have started the investigation to understand the causes of such a horrific accident and the administration of the building promised their full cooperation in that. The spokesperson of the building’s owner also called it a “truly devastating incident”.
The causes and implications of the tragedy are expected to unfold soon as the police have started its job already.
