Figurehead of the Black Lives Matter movement calls for the Winston Churchill statue, which sits in a prime location on Parliament Square, to be removed and placed in a museum, calling it “offensive.

Imarn Ayton, 29, told reporters that believes the Winston Churchill statue be moved as a “win-win” situation for everyone.
“It no longer offends the black nation, but we get to keep our history and keep those that would like to see that,” she said.
When asked about her reasons, Ayton said, “Any statue of people who has spoken negatively towards black people is going to be offensive. Any man.”
The news comes after Brits march the streets amid anti-racism demonstrations, ignoring requests to go home and practice social distancing to help fight the pandemic.
Ayton also urged protesters to stay off the streets of London to prevent the demonstrations to explode into a “race war” against the far-right, which whom are stationed at the capital and other cities across the UK to help defend targeted sculptures.
Her calls come after tensions start to simmer across UK, with series of protests erupted in multiple big cities on Saturday.
Steps had been taken to fully cover the wartime Prime Minister statue prior to the second wave of mass protests, encasing it in a protective box to deter possible attacks.
Police chiefs in London imposed a 5pm curfew on all demonstrations in an effort to diffuse the unrest seen throughout the day, while anti-racism rally and pro-statue counter-protest heat up when far-right protesters took on Westminster.
Former England striker Gary Lineker stressed that the rallies have “lost the plot” after statues are being targeted.
Debates surrounding the statues across the country started after an effigy of Edward Colston was pulled down and thrown into the river by protesters due to his involvement in the slave trade in the 17th century.
