A former events waitress shared the experience of receiving a generous tip from a bride after spilling gravy all over her mother-in-law’s white outfit.
TikTok user @chloe_beeee told her followers that she only worked as a waitress only for a short period of time due to her dyspraxia, which meant that she was always dropping things and too clumsy.
During her first waitressing event, it just so happens that she spilled a boat of hot gravy all over the groom’s mother.
“It was the only wedding I’ve ever served actually,” she said. “I spilled a whole boat of gravy into the lap of the mother-in-law of the bride.’”
“Obviously, it was hot and it was everywhere but it didn’t burn her, thank God,” the TikToker continued. “I was young and I was beside myself, I was crying, I was so upset because I thought I had ruined this couple’s wedding.”
But in a weird turn of events, she apparently made someone else’s night by spilling gravy to the dress of the groom’s mother.
“The bride came over to me, she shook my hand and she thanked me,” she said. “She told me that ‘my mother-in-law shouldn’t have been wearing white to my wedding day’ and then she gave me a £55 ($76) tip!”
“When I see her in town now we still say hi,” the TikToker said.
As of this writing, the video has now more than 150,000 likes and has been flooded with comments from women praising the former waitress for saving the bride’s wedding day.
“My mother-in-law told me she was wearing white to our wedding,” one person commented. “Rather than give her the argument she wanted I wore a black gown instead.”
“Not all heroes wear capes, some carry gravy boats,” another one said.
“She [the bride] probably tells everyone about the person who saved her on her wedding day.” another one said.
