A young mum revealed how her brave 2-year-old girl is cancer-free, after battling the deadliest children’s tumor.
This same time last year, mum Nicky Foxley explained how she dreaded the upcoming year. And that’s because fear and grief surrounded her in terms of her daughter’s survival.
According to media reports, her daughter Elara started developing weird manifestations across her face.
And that was when doctors gave her mum the worst news that could ever reach any parent’s ears. Elana was diagnosed with advanced neuroblastoma. At the same time, doctors warned the single mum how she shouldn’t Google her daughter’s condition.
And that showed how grave the situation really was.
Little Elara had to go through severe forms of chemotherapy to keep her tumor from spreading. But the biggest nightmare took place when the young child handed her mum a giant clump of her hair in the hospital, on Christmas morning. Therefore, that was when the real horror of the disease hit Nicky.
“Young Elara was obsessed with the concept of fairies as well as princesses,” explained Nicky.
For this reason, she told her daughter that it was the ‘cheeky fairies’ that attempted to take away her hair. While the mother consoled her daughter, she worked hard to fight back her own tears, putting on a reassuring smile for her child.
As days went by, all Nicky could do was pray that a miracle would take place. With all the odds against her and doctors putting Elara on the most grueling form of treatment, it was nothing less than an emotional rollercoaster.
However, after 7 long months, Nicky and her daughter got the miracle they hoped for. All of Elara’s scans came out clean. And that meant she was cancer-free in October.
Today, Nicky is as grateful as ever for her daughter’s recovery. But it’s a year that she will never forget. And while most people were dealing with the dreadful news of the pandemic, this single mum had to go through her own personal nightmare.
