Maxine Waters, the California Democrat that traveled to Brooklyn Center, claims that all BLM demonstrators need to stay on the streets of Minnesota if Chauvin acquitted.
The US representative urged all the BLM supporters at the recent anti-police protest that was held against cops’ brutality at Minnesota’s Brooklyn Center on Saturday.
Here, she called upon all the demonstrators to show unity and stay up on the streets as she felt this was the only way forward when it came to demanding justice till police reform ensues and turns into a reality for the state.
“I am going to fight with all of the people that stand up for justice,” she added. Waters also spoke to reporters just shortly before the 11 pm curfew too. Here is where she told them about the importance of getting justice in the nation and how the citizens cannot afford to allow these sorts of killings to continue on a routine basis.
When questioned in specific about the Derek Chauvin trial that is currently going on in Minneapolis, she explained to reporters that if the former cop is not found guilty of his crime in murdering Floyd, all BLM supporters will stay on the streets and they need to get more active if they wish to see change and justice take place.
“We’ve got to get more confrontational,” she exclaimed boldly. “They need to be aware of the fact that we mean business,” she again explained.
At the same time, Waters mentioned how she was very hopeful that Derek Chauvin would get convicted for the murder crime but in case he doesn’t, the BLM protesters can’t just go away.
“We’ve got to fight for justice,” with greater emphasis upon the pressure for a bill that spells out police reform too,” Waters said.
In particular, Waters plans on staying in the state of Minnesota till Monday and that’s when the case’s closing arguments are expected to take place in the Derek Chauvin trial.
