President Joe Biden says that his latest gun control measures will not go on impacting the rights that were outlined in the 2nd amendment.
Local media outlets confirmed how the president is tightening out regulations that require all those who purchase ghost guns to go through strict checks regarding their background.
In his first-ever gun control measures since he took oath as president of the US, Biden announced a whopping 6 executive actions on Thursday. These gun control measures were issued, keeping in mind the recent widespread attacks involving gun violence in the country.
The president referred to the current state of affairs regarding gun violence as an embarrassment internationally. For this reason, he felt the time was now right to bring out stricter measures that could help decrease the likelihood of such events in the future.
“If you actually look at it, it is really a public health crisis,” he explained in his remarks during a recent press conference at the White House. While meeting the grieving loved ones who lost so many family members in the recent wave of shootings across the country, the president boldly assured them that the country was busy focusing and determined towards one goal and that revolved around making a change.
However, Thursday’s announcement undermines the major limitations attached to the president’s executive power towards acting on guns.
They are intended to tighten out the regulations regarding homemade guns as well as directing more resources towards gun-violence prevention measures too.
These fall short of the constant sweeping gun control actions that the president laid out during his own campaign trail. On the other hand, the president made claims about how they won’t interfere with the Second Amendment as nothing was absolute as of this moment. He also took this opportunity to nominate David Chipman who is an ex-federal agent as well as an adviser working at the gun control group called Giffords.
