White Houses’ Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, confirmed on Friday how President Joe Biden would sign the gun control executive orders.
The news was no surprise for many as the president had already made it clear in his press conference after the deadly Boulder grocery store mass shooting, which took place on Monday afternoon. The tragic incident left several people dead and many others wounded after a 21-year-old gunman of Syrian descent, opened fire on the victims.
The press secretary of the White House however did add how the exact timing on the signing of the executive orders for gun control was still not clear and hence she refused to comment upon it. “It is still undergoing the review process,” she added.
Jen Psaki also spoke about how Biden implemented the same during Obama’s tenure as President of the United States, which was when he served as vice president.
“During the Obama-Biden administration, he assisted in placing a total of 23 executive actions.
These were all aimed at helping to combat gun violence to the greatest degree,” she explained. The Press Secretary also spoke about how the executive orders for gun control were one of the levers that the country can use to overcome as well as combat incidents related to gun violence at the daily press briefing.
With the new gun control push in place by the Democrats, the country hopes to see a decline in incidents like the deadly mass shooting massacre that rocked Colorado on Monday.
Here, 1o people were brutally murdered in broad daylight by one gunman, singlehandedly.
In addition, a week before, the country mourned the deaths of 8 people in Atlanta where shootings took center stage at several massage parlors too.In the same way, the White House hopes to see stricter background checks being implemented for the presence of ghost guns, which are those weapons that can be produced at home, without any form of serial numbers.
