On Sunday, white house press secretary Jen Psaki reveals that US President Joe Biden has more plans for the coronavirus relief.
“He’s going to have more to say later in April about the second part of his recovery plan, which will include a number of the pieces you talked about, health care, child care, addressing that,” Psaki told Fox News. “It’s a crisis right now, the number of women who have left the workplace.”
When asked about the amount of the stimulus bill would be, the press secretary says: “The total package, we’re still working out.”
Psaki added that the Biden administration is working with Congress on more specifics.
“We’ll work with the Senate and the House to see how it should move forward,” she said.
According to estimates, the upcoming rollout could potentially reach between $2-$4 trillion.
“When the president advocated for the American Rescue Plan, he talked about this being two stages: rescue then recovery,” Psaki told Fox. “What the American people will hear from him this week, is part of his plan, the first step of his plan toward recovery which will include an investment in infrastructure.”
The plan —which senior Democrats are proposing could surpass $3 trillion—is believed as the foundation of Biden’s Build Back Better jobs and infrastructure program.
Currently, the national debt stands at more than $28 trillion and still growing.
Democrats are seeking to fit as much as they can in this package that includes new measures on climate policy and drug pricing.
However, Centrist Democrat Joe Manchin said he will block the bill if there’s no cooperation with the Republicans. With a 50-50 divided Senate, just one disagreeing lawmaker could throw off the party’s plans.
