The current Biden administration is getting called out by critics for spending huge amounts of money on caring for young migrants.
A recent statistics survey showed how the administration spends around $60 million in housing the unaccompanied minors that are around 16,000 in number, confirmed the report.
Critics mentioned how that particular funding which totals nearly $3.1 billion in a year gets used for the care of children’s facilities which is run by the Department of Health as well as Human Services. And that was right after the young unaccompanied minors were transferred by the Border Patrol.
Meanwhile, experts fear that such costs are predicted to rise with time dramatically, especially in the next few months, mentioned reports from the Washington Post.
That’s nearly four times the mega $760 million FY2020 budget that is needed for the Small Business Administration. Moreover, it is also four times the value allotted towards the SBA for that particular year. This way, small businesses will be assisted and prevented from being crushed and taken over by the harrowing COVID-19 pandemic.
President Biden’s administration has swiftly set up 10 major emergency shelters that comprise nearly 16,000 temporary beds that will be for the migrant kids at the convention centers. The post analysis reportedly mentioned how the costs per child are around $290.
As of today, the report also spoke about how nearly 8500 kids were currently residing in the mega pop-up sites with nearly 4000 others waiting in line for their turn so that they can be safely transported from the border facilities.
On the other hand, the expenses related to housing kids at the emergency sites are much higher than the permanent shelters, mentioned Kenneth Wolfe who is a spokesperson for the HHS Administration for both children as well as families too
He added how the cost per child over there is about $775 each day, keeping past experiences in mind.
