The famous bird of prey tore down the entire propeller, an integral part of the famous Phantom 4 Pro Advanced quadcopter.
As a result of the major destruction. the drone plummeting down into the ground of Lake Michigan. But what was the drone doing in the air in the first place?
Well, the question was answered by Hunter King, an environmental analyst as well as the drone’s pilot. According to reports, he was mapping the shoreline’s erosion using the drone. The exact location was Escanaba, which is situated at Michigan’s Upper regional Penninsula.
After finishing around seven rounds, King said that he was finding some difficulties with the device.
Moreover, he described it as reception problems. And that’s when he pressed to call the device back towards him.
He could then see how the device started to make an abrupt journey towards him. Kind was viewing the minute by minute details via his news feed. However, suddenly, he witnessed a bald eagle attacking the device, while in mid-flight journey. And that meant at a speed of 22mph. As a result of the attack, the drone became uncontrollable.
Despite sending a staggering 27 notifications in the form of warning signals, it dropped down into the waters below. One peculiar thing that Hunter noticed was that one of the 27 warnings was related to a missing propeller.
Nearby, a couple was birdwatching and they informed Hunter how they witnessed the giant bald eagle strike an object in the air.
The bird flew away without any harm or injuries, as reported by the Government department officials.
According to mapping data statistics, the drone landed around 150ft, offshore. And that meant reaching down to four feet deep in water. However, officials still haven’t been able to recover the mighty device.
