A premature baby was abandoned in a terminal bathroom at Doha Airport and passengers were forced to undergo a medical checkup.
Thirteen Australian women were forced to remove their undergarments for medical examination at Qatar Airport after the premature baby was found alive in the terminal bathroom of the airport.
The baby was found at Hamad International Airport in Doha, and the flight to Sydney was tarried while the officials were trying to locate the mother.
All the lady passengers, including 13 Australians, were detained and forced to have a medical examination in an ambulance on the airport tarmac. Unfortunately, the mother of the baby was not found.
Wolfgang Babeck- who was coming back to Australia, told Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) that many of the women were distressed when they came back. He told ABC that when women came, probably all of them were upset; even one of them who was young was in tears.
A source in Doha briefed that officials were forcing women to undergo a medical examination, especially they were forced to do a pap test.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Payne has expressed serious concerns to the officials and is waiting for the report to find out what exactly had happened.
She said that this was disturbing, offensive, and deeply concerning.
It is said that none of the passengers were briefed about the abandoned baby before the force physical examination.
The management of Hamad International Airport said that the baby is safe and sound and is taken care of by medical and social workers. Medical professionals were worried about the health of the mother after the baby was found, and it was requested to locate the mother.
The management further said that all the people who had access to the specific area were asked to assist in the investigation.
