A four-month-old baby has passed away after her father found their pet dog lying on her.
The heartbroken father of Raelynn Larrison screamed “my baby ain’t breathing” as he pleaded with emergency services for help.
Raelynn was rushed to Dayton Children’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said in a statement.
The father contacted 911 at around 7 pm on December 31, telling the dispatcher that he found his dog lying on his baby.
“She’s not breathing. My Baby ain’t breathing,” he expressed. “The puppy was lying on her and I just now noticed it.”
The father was taking a nap when he woke up to find his daughter unconscious and their pet dog was ‘lying’ on top of her.
The dog’s breed is not revealed but neighbor Lonnie Dapier said that it is a ‘big’ animal.
“It’s a horrible thing if you can’t control an animal,” she added after saying that the pet previously escaped the property.
Ms. Dapier also said that ‘big dog’ like that should be near young children.
The neighbor said that she hoped the pooch would be “taken care of” so it couldn’t “injure anyone else,” The Sun reported.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay for the child’s funeral expenses.
“A unexpected tragedy happen last night 12/31/2020, when we lost our beautiful four month niece,” it reads.
“Please help in any way you possibly can so that we can lay this beautiful girl to rest.”
One person commented: “I lost a baby girl many years ago and I know the pain of this family. I was also helped by people at that time.”
Another wrote: “So very sorry for your loss. Heaven gained another Angel. Your baby girl will never truly leave you…she’ll always be in your heart. Forever. Praying for your family to find peace and comfort during this extremely difficult time.”
