According to media reports, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was blasted by critics who told her to stay in New York. Moreover, they questioned the US congresswoman about the state of New York, taunting her about how those citizens were in need of help too.

Alexandria raised a whopping $2 million to help purchase emergency supplies so that she could deliver them to the worst affected areas of Texas such as Houston where the recent winter storm wreaked havoc.

The congresswoman jetted off to Houston, Texas on Friday so that she could meet her fellow congresswoman from the Democratic party, Sylvia Garcia. And that was right after her whirlwind of fundraising that took place in just a 48-hour time slot.

However, the congresswoman didn’t get the warm welcome that she anticipated as critics slammed her next move online.

One Twitter user called her plans a stunt and pure pandering. Moreover, she called Alexandria out for having zero empathy for anyone other than herself. “Stay in New York, don’t those people need your help too?”

On the other hand, AOC did receive some praise from her own allies. This was in major contrast to the behavior many had about Texas’ senator Ted Cruz. He was majorly criticized for flying out to Cancun with his wife and two young kids, instead of staying home and assisting fellow Texans during dire times.

Comments such as ‘AOC is clearly doing way more for the citizens of Texas than what Ted Cruz did. Clearly, she understands what the terms government of the people, for the people, and by the people means.”

AOC gave her Twitter followers a surprise on Friday where she announced her decision of traveling to storm hit Texas to help distribute emergency supplies as well as assist in amplifying needs as well as solutions. She also tweeted about how the charity has nothing to do with good governance and can’t be considered to be a replacement.
