A new video was recently released showcasing South Carolina’s District Attorney who can be heard stating boldly how Andrew Brown Jr’s death was justified.
According to local media outlets, the DA confirmed the news via a press briefing after several videos of the incident were released, showing in detail what went on exactly on that terror-filled night in April.
On Tuesday, Prosecutors mentioned how the fatal shooting of Andrew Brown Jr. was totally justified because he posed as an imminent threat to others in the vicinity. The statements emerged right after the latest police bodycam footage showed what exactly went on in the deadly encounter.
“This is definitely one of those cases that clearly depicts how the officers went about using deadly means of force upon Andrew Brown Jr because of reasons that were fully justified,” South Carolinas DA R.
Andrew Womble claimed. “He was a violent felon who made use of a deadly weapon that placed all of their lives in absolute danger,” he explained at the recent press conference on Tuesday.
Therefore, he also announced how no officers would be charged for the shooting that took place on April 21st.
“The shooting took place in the first instance because officers wanted to prevent any potential harm to those living nearby where the incident actually took place. There were pedestrians, deputies, and other support deputies nearby as well as in front of Brown,” the DA added.
On the other hand. Brown’s family is accusing South Carolina’s DA of making attempts to whitewash what they claim to be an unjustifiable killing.
“It’s an absolute insult to claim that this shooting was justified, despite the known facts being put forward in front of us all,” the family mentioned their attorneys.
