The Pentagon has announced its cancelation for the funds of the southern border wall’s construction that was initially begun under the Trump administration.
Local media outlets confirmed the news that about 450 miles of the huge wall would now be coming to a halt as millions of funds diverted solely for this project would now be canceled immediately.
The abrupt decision was announced on Friday where the Biden administration added how all such projects relating to the border wall’s construction would be canceled with immediate effect.
Moreover, this decision has to do with a broader aspect that relates to the Biden administration towards its move to cancel all of the projects that come under the Trump-era period.
In January of this year, President Biden had issued an immediate executive order that stopped all such projects so that an in-depth review would now take place.
Today, more than 450 miles of the border construction has been complete and around 350 miles more of the plan had already funding.
Some of those funds came from money that was diverted from the country’s Department of Defense, confirmed reports. The Pentagon mentioned on Friday how the military funding would now be allocated towards other more important projects such as those projects that had been deferred by the military in the past. Therefore, that particular list of projects was now under scrutiny for review as well as approval, confirmed reports.
However, previously, Trump and its administration had issued warnings how canceling this project would be a huge loss to that nation in terms of money as well as jobs as more and more contracts would receive cancelation. It added how the border wall’s construction was necessary to prevent the entry of migrants illegally while providing safety to the nation too.
Moreover, border patrol officials announced how migrants were using the gaps in the border wall to the best of their advantage to enter the country.
