President Biden is calling the rich and upper-class citizens of the nation to step up to the plate and pay their share in terms of taxes.
Delivering his first-ever speech at the Congress’ joint meeting on Wednesday, Biden was seen entering the US House Chamber donning a black-toned face mask. Moreover, he received a warm welcome from the crowd too which comprised of only 200 lawmakers.
On the other hand, this was also a historic moment for the country as it was the first time ever where a president stood while being flanked by two women. These women include vice president Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nanci Pelosi, who could be seen sitting behind the president.
The president began his speech by referring to the Capitol Riot that took place on January 6th as the ‘worst attack’ over the nation’s democracy, ever since the Civil War took place.
Promising to the country how the US is on the move again, Biden also took this opportunity to lay out the massive tax surge as well as the infrastructure plan.
The president told the rich to pay off their share with the tax hikes while he topped off with talks about the massive $6 trillion government splurge, alongside his massive $2.
3 trillion ‘blue collar’ plan for jobs. Both of these events were announced during his address to Congress. However, unsurprisingly, it was all slammed by the Republican party who called his move a boring and socialist dream.
The president was not afraid to take credit for the vaccine’s rollout, boldly claiming how he would be the one who turns every peril into a possibility while being in the office.
In addition, Biden made a promise to behave stricter with China, laid out a long list of demands for Congress’s approval, and even attacked Wall Street too.
While the first lady did attend, the address had mostly virtually guests, as compared to the usual box of attendees that are seen over the years.
