A mother was left in tears after a nurse prevented her from breastfeeding her hungry baby at a hospital’s waiting room recently.
The mum was reportedly devastated as she tried to console her hungry 4-month-old child who just couldn’t stop crying. But the mother was helpless when it came to the incident as she was located in a hospital’s waiting room where the nurse explained how she just couldn’t nurse her child as ‘people may not like it.’
34-year-old Rebecca Ryan also went on to add how the receptionist also was worried about how there might be complaints from those waiting, hence the mum was denied breastfeeding.
The mum of 3 sat patiently, trying to quiet down the hungry cries of her little son named Kit. The mum also explained went on to add how the entire incident really made her feel uncomfortable. “When it was my turn and I was called in for my appointment, it all really made me feel super uncomfortable,” she boldly exclaimed.
When one of the nurses asked her what the matter was, the mother just couldn’t hold back. She went on to mention how she was literally barred from giving her hungry baby breastmilk.
“I was told that some people would not like the gesture of me breastfeeding and that simply doesn’t appear to be a good enough reason for me,” the mum went on to explain. The nurse didn’t help the devastated mum too much.
The mother also added how she felt like she had caused a chaotic scene for no reason but all she wanted at the end of the day was to feed her hungry child who just wouldn’t stop crying.
Shedding light on her story, the mom says that her baby wasn’t in the best of health when he was born. Moreover, she added how he suffered from sepsis and was forced to stay at the hospital, far away from her. For her, that entire experience was just daunting and very hard to go through as a mother.
After the incident went viral, St Luke’s Hospital, the location where it all happened, took out the time to apologize to the mum. They even went on to offer her a private room as they also feared that some women who had gotten mastectomies would feel upset.
