The US Secretary of State refuses to commit to the President’s new calls for an increase in the refugee cap number.
According to local media outlets, Blinken blatantly refused to commit to Joe Biden’s new calls for an increase in the refugee cap number on Sunday. Moreover, Blinken went as far as stating how he felt the President of the US is very clear about the direction he wishes to head in. But that does not mean blindly saying yes to everything.
“We understand that the President is very clear about where he wishes to head. But we need to see the reality and focus on where we have to be, what we are able to do, and when we are able to that too,” he explained.
Biden mentioned after his recent golf game on Saturday how the country will soon be increasing the number of asylum seekers that enter through the border. Moreover, this was also the first time that Joe Biden called the migrant issue a ‘crisis.’ The comments came as a surprise to many people, especially his critics.
They awaited the moment when the president and his administration would acknowledge the fact that the situation on the border is getting out of control and would soon be declared as a humanitarian crisis with migrant facilities being 7 times greater than their maximal capacity.
President Biden announced these statements at the Wilmington Country Club while hitting links. This is also the first time that Biden has played the sport of golf ever since he became the president of the US.
Just last week, the president pledged the admission of more than 125,000 refugees into the nation as the new fiscal year will take center stage from the next fall season.
But after hearing Blinken’s new remarks and how he disagrees with the decision, it will be interesting to see how the next series of events take place.
