C. released new bodycam footage that relates to the exact moment when police officers shot dead a black teen. According to reports, an 18-year-old teenager received bullets to his chest, after he pulled a gun.
In the footage, you can see the young Black man making an escape, after brandishing a gun, during a police encounter. Meanwhile, the sudden killing sparked outrage, leading to a fresh wave of protests.
Washington D.C. is already in the hot seat, thanks to the sudden outburst of violent demonstrations by BLM protestors. And now this new event will further aggravate the situation.
Identified as Deon Kay by the Metropolitan Police Department, he instantly died on the spot.
On the other hand, police officer Alexander Alvarez explained how Deon was one of the two people that fled when cops approached them.
The incident is related to an investigating report that entails the possession of armed weapons. Moreover, cops identified the exact area as Orange Street’s 200 block.The police chief confirmed how authorities identified the suspects possessing weapons, during a live stream video. The footage circulated on social media, allowing police to immediately recognize them via ‘previous contacts.’ Furthermore, they confirmed how Deon Kay was, in fact, a ‘validated gang member.’
Other than that, they revealed how he had a previous criminal record activity. And that includes a number of brushes against the law.
During the hot pursuit, you can witness Kay pulling out a weapon, after a dramatic Police chase. And this prompts the officers to open fire as a response.
Thursday’s bodycam footage sheds more light on the harrowing incident, which many are calling ‘fatal shooting.’ This event arises when the country is already facing plenty of turmoil, in regards to the massive riots and violent demonstrations. And it all relates to protestors calling for rapid police reform.
