President Joe Biden has termed the killing of 20-year-old Daunte Wright as ‘God Awful,’ right before a meeting with the Congressional Black Caucus.
According to local media outlets, the President also made bold remarks regarding the tragic killing, explaining how change could only be possible with police reform. This was just moments before Biden met with members of the Congressional Black Caucus, which was held at the White House today.
On the other hand, the House bill regarding police reform is reportedly still sitting idle in the Senate as there are still not enough votes for its passage, confirmed reports.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration still has not formed any proposed policy or any commission that the President pitched for as a candidate during the elections.
When the president was questioned on Tuesday at the Oval Office regarding what he can and what he plans on delivering when it came to how the Black American community interacted with the police, he gave an abrupt response that comprised of, “A lot.” He even mentioned how he would let the media know later as he had to leave right now.
In the brutal aftermath that took place after the killing of 20-year-old Daunte Wright on Monday, Joe Biden reiterated how there was zero justification for the acts of violence.
Wright was shot dead by a veteran cop who accidentally mistook her gun for a taser until the gunshots slammed into Wright’s body, killing him instantly on the spot. The incident reportedly took place in the suburban area of Minneapolis, just ten miles away from where George Floyd was killed.
Biden explained how peaceful protests were justified and explainable but he condemned the use of aggravated protests and violent rioting just did not have any form of justification. “We know the Black community is angry and upset as there is a lot of pain and trauma,’ he added with his statement.
The president also confirmed how he had personally witnessed the gruesome bodycam footage of the officer while Wright received bullets from the cop’s gun.
