The US Capitol has entered into a state of lockdown after a shockingly violent incident took center stage a few moments ago.

Local media outlets confirmed how panic and chaos filled the air as two police officers were left with critical injuries, right after being run over by a suspect driving a vehicle. Moreover, authorities confirmed how the suspect literally mowed down the barrier and tried his level best to gain entry, severely injuring the officers stationed at this particular stop.

Right after his vehicle came to a stop, the suspect reportedly got off and emerged with a sharp object in his hand, which many are describing as a knife.

On that note, the suspect was shot down by another cop and is currently in police custody, mentioned local news outlets. Some latest reports coming in from NBC news claim that the suspect has since died.

The incident sparked fear and great panic, with many recalling the tragic Capitol riots that took place on January 6th, rocking the entire American nation as a whole.

Initially, reports spoke about how there was a major mass shooting as multiple law enforcement agencies swiftly arrived at the scene. But later, it was confirmed how an unidentified suspect had attempted to plow down the Capitol barriers, severely injuring officers on the way.

Currently, the story is still developing with investigations taking place as we speak. The police are yet to confirm the death of the suspect too.

Meanwhile, it was confirmed how the startling incident unfolded on Friday at about 1 pm in the afternoon.

The injured cops were immediately rushed on stretchers by paramedics who arrived at the scene, They are currently undergoing medical treatment with their condition being described as critical.

Amid the shocking reports, helicopters were observed circling the Eastern Front of the Capitol with security being beefed up around the vicinity.
