Queen Elizabeth got her second dose of the COVID vaccine ahead of her first public appearance in five months.
The Queen, 94, went mask-less and was greeted by the Royal Australian Air Force in Runnymede, Surrey, after months of isolation in her Windsor Castle.
The Queen told the people she was delighted to be outdoors in her first public event since November last year.
“It is a rather nice day,” the Queen told the crowd at the Air Forces Memorial. “I’m delighted to be here.”
Australian High Commissioner George Brandis QC told Queen Elizabeth that travel rules had stranded many Australians in the United Kingdom.
“There are worse places to be stuck,” the Queen quickly replied.
Queen Elizabeth wore a green and ivory dress and jacket, a matching hat, and a brooch given to her on her first tour of Australia in 1954.
Her husband Prince Philip, 99, was not present in the public event after recent heart surgery and spending a month in hospital.
Meanwhile, the palace aides refused to reveal the official schedule of their second vaccines.
“Given the Queen has decided to make a public appearance so close to 12 weeks after the announcement of receiving her first vaccine it is clear she has already had her second,” a source told the Sun. “Aides won’t have wanted to put her at any risk.”
“It is obviously much more reassuring to know that anyone who has received two doses of the vaccine is so well protected — even aged 94.”
Some studies claim that having the second dose of the vaccine would give the Queen 100% immunity from contracting the coronavirus.
