YouGov survey shows that the majority of black Britons believe the Royal Family is racist.
The survey also found that 43% of non-white poll participants want to abolish the monarchy while 67% had a “positive” view of the Queen.
The poll comes following Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which the Duchess revealed that a Royal asked “how dark” her then-unborn son’s skin would be.
The YouGov survey shows that 43% think the Windsors are “racist,” 27% say the Royals aren’t racist while 37% say they “don’t know.”
When asked if the Sussexes had been treated “fairly” by the Royals, 49% answered “no.”
When asked if they are in favor to abolish the monarchy, 43% agreed while 40% disagreed.
The YouGov survey, which was conducted days after the infamous Oprah interview, polled 504 people from ethnic minority backgrounds.
“Our polling of ethnic-minority attitudes suggests the Royal Family need to mend some fences,” Anthony Wells, a director of YouGov, told The Times.
“More optimistically, while ethnic-minority Britons have a generally negative perception of Charles and Camilla, the Queen herself, Prince William, and the Duchess of Cambridge all have strongly positive ratings.”
