It’s payback time as President Trump plans ‘political punishment’ against GOP senators that voted for his impeachment.
According to media reports, the current US president summoned his closed aides to brief him on all the 10 Republican senators that voted against him. This was in regard to his actions for last week’s deadly riots on the Capitol.
The Wall Street Journal reported how the President wished to know all the details surrounding the event that left him dumbfounded and impeached for the second time in a row. “He wanted to know all about the lawmakers who united to vote against him.” Trump also wished to find out whether or not he had done anything for those senators too.
The President is also very eager about inquiring more information on ‘who might run against them.’ This was in regards to the new elections that will take place in a two-year timeframe.
These ‘breakaway’ Republicans joined hands with the Democrats when it came time to impeach President Trump over a single count of allegedly igniting an insurrection that may have disrupted his certification for new President-elect Joe Biden’s win.
This includes number 3 House Republican from Wyoming, Representative Lis Cheney. She was a part of the top 10 who currently continue to resist calls regarding a few members to resign from her post immediately.
In the same way, Representative Lis Cheney is famous for butting heads with the President regarding his views on Foreign Policy. The President also called her out for her ouster that took place during a pre-riot speech, situated near the White House. Moreover, it assisted in forming the basis of his impeachment too.
Some of the other top names that voted in favor of Trump’s impeachment include Representatives like South Carolina’s Tom Rice, New York’s John Katko, Ohio’s Anthony Gonzalez, and Michigan’s Peter Meijer.
Meanwhile, critics believe that Donald Trump will continue to remain a powerful figure in the eyes of the Republicans, even after he leaves his office on January 20th.
