A hospital in Texas is accused of giving their employee a fake COVID-19 vaccine shot.
The hospital faces immense backlash after some viewers find out that the vaccine administered to the healthcare workers was fake. University Medical Center of EI Paso decided to televise the vaccination process to develop the public’s trust in the COVID-19 vaccine. A video that went viral on social media captured Ricardo Martinez receiving the vaccine.
The eagle-eyed viewers were infuriated to see that the hospital was faking the vaccination process.
Many people rightly pointed out that the plunger was already pushed down, and the syringe was empty. “A nice attempt to fool us!” a user commented. Two local broadcasters were invited to record the process of vaccination of 5 front line health care workers.
The video came out on Tuesday and has created a controversy; people are curious that was the purpose of fooling them.
“Wow! nice acting, but sorry we are not fooled.” someone commented. “Look, the nurse tapped it with his finger, the syringe was empty,” another commented. After taking the vaccine, Ricardo talked to the reporters and said he is honored to be among the first few citizens who have received the vaccine.
He also showed his confidence in the vaccine and said now he could do his job with ease.
A spokesman for the hospital later cleared that one of the workers didn’t get the full shot, and they administered him another shot.
He added that after numerous claims on social media related to one of the workers who didn’t get the full dose, the hospital had taken necessary measures to erase all the doubts and boost the public’s confidence in the vaccine.
The hospitals across the US had started administering Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccines to their healthcare staff from Monday. To strengthen Americans’ confidence, it is essential to prove that it is safe to receive the FDA-approved vaccine. Thus, the process is broadcasted live on television.
