President Biden made headlines recently when he refrained from calling for New York’s Governor Cuomo’s resignation.
According to media reports, the President gave Cuomo the benefit of doubt over the many sexual harassment allegations that recently came forward against him.
Moreover, the President spoke urging people to not jump to conclusions and wait for the reports regarding the investigation. Biden addressed the controversial question regarding the Cuomo scandal on Sunday evening. After all, a number of leading democrats as well as New York City’s mayor have called the Governor to resign amid the massive influx of sexual harassment allegations.
Governor Cuomo is currently refusing to resign unless the full investigation into the matter has taken place. In the same way, New York’s attorney general, Letitia James, made headlines after being the one to appoint a huge team to investigate the case.
Local media outlets spoke about how the inquiry is most likely expected to take place over a span of 2 months. Howver, during that duration, there is great pressure mounting upon Cuomo.
The president was put in the spotlight when reporters questioned him regarding Cuomo’s status and if they felt like he needed to resign. On that note, the president boldly declared, “I think the investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us.”
On Sunday, Nancy Pelosi refused to call for Governor Cuomo’s resignation. The news made heads turn as the House Speaker has a ‘zero tolerance’ rule regarding sexual assault as well as harassment allegations.
The House Speaker spoke to ABC’s ‘This Week’ where she mentioned, “The governor needs to look inside his heart. He loves the state of New York and hence needs to see if he carries the capabilities to govern effectively.”
Meanwhile, New York’s mayor, Bill de Blasio, mentioned on Sunday another call for Cuomo’s resignation. While they both belong to the same party as fellow Democrats, they are known to be frequent rivals.
Blasio mentioned in a statement to news sources how he felt the governor would try his best to hold out as he is used to getting things done his way.
