A customer was left feeling disgusted and discriminated against at the lack of meat-free options in KFC.
She mentioned how she was a vegetarian and had entered the Sidwell Street KFC restaurant in Exeter with her partner. Thinking to celebrate with some good food, she planned on ordering the famous bargain bucket for her husband while looking for some vegan or vegetarian options for herself.
Hence, after selecting a table to dine on, she went ahead to the counter to place her order. And that’s when she felt horrified when the order taker mentioned that they don’t serve any meat-free meals or options at the moment.
While the restaurant is famous for its vegan burger, it just wasn’t available for some reason at this particular branch.
Vanessa Hensley blew up in flames after making the discovery, alongside her partner Aaron Saini. Moreover, the pair now claims that their wonderful evening was ruined, all thanks to the fried chicken fast-food chain.
Venessa calls herself a ‘pescatarian’ who doesn’t eat meat other than fish options. Hence, on this occasion, she was really looking forward to getting her hands upon the famous vegetarian burger or perhaps the veggie rice box as a late dinner option.
Since there was nothing meat-free on the menu, Vanessa was left without anything to eat.
She and her husband decided to exit the restaurant, fuming as ever. She promised to never return to any KFC outlet again, referring to the outlet as absolutely disgraceful.
Instead, she and her husband opted for some delicious fish and chips at another nearby restaurant.“I think it’s absolutely disgusting for KFC to behave this way as more and more people are turning towards the vegan trend and becoming vegetarians too,” she exclaimed.
Vanessa’s incident went viral in no time, with KFC releasing a statement on the matter.
“We never wish to see our fans leave our restaurants feeling disappointed,” it mentioned. In the same way, it spoke about how their famous original recipe vegan burger is one of the hottest items on their menu.
But they only prioritized it at those outlets where it’s a hit. And for that reason, it wasn’t mentioned at this particular branch. They ended the statement by issuing an apology in regards to the incident.
