An ex-gym teacher was sent to prison after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting her 13-year-old student.
Rochelle Cressman was a former gym instructor for students at Pennsylvania’s Titusville Middle School. Now, she is heading off to prison for an estimated time period of 5 years, where she continuously carried out sexual assault attacks with her 13-year-old male student. The incident reportedly took place over a span of 7 months.
The court also ordered the 34-year-old former gym teacher to serve an additional 10 year probation period while being registered as a sex offender too, right upon her release from prison.
Cressman began shedding tears after the verdict was announced by the jury, as she stood in front of Crawford’s County Court recently, Moreover, the teacher justified her actions by mentioning how she was taken aback at that time due to some serious marital problems in her relationship.
In addition, the 34-year-old apologized for her selfish behavior and for not taking into account other’s feelings while committing the offence, as she explained to the judge. “In the fall period of 2018, I made some decisions that I will regret for the rest of my life,” the teacher added.
Rochelle Cressman was arrested in 2019 on charges of carrying out sexual assaults against the teen, on several occasions. To be exact, the incidents took place between September 2018 to April 2019. At that time, she was 32 years old while her student what only 13 years old.
Local news agencies confirmed how the former teacher carried out the crime at her former residence, which is located in Oil Creek Township. In addition, some of the offenses also took place at another residence in Titusville, as reported by the Meadville Tribune.
In May of 2019, the former gym instructor resigned from her position at the middle school.
Initially, she was slapped with charges that entailed 66 criminal counts. However, she finally agreed to plead guilty on 3 separate counts that involved statutory sexual crimes in the month of November.
