A grieving mother who lost her unborn baby broke down in tears after her friend asked her to return the gifts she bought.
According to Kidspot, the mum said that her pal had bought her son a cuddly elephant, a singing toy, some clothes, and a soft fleece blanket.
Sadly, her baby boy, Benjamin, was born at only 29 weeks and did not survive.
In a heartbreaking Reddit post, the furious mother shared screenshots of her conversation with her friend.
She claimed that she received a message from her friend asking if she had touched or used any of the gifts she’d purchased, adding that she would like them back.
“Hey, hun just wondering if u used the bits n bobs I got for the baby? If not I can give them to Laura’s little one. Hope your ok and resting up hun?” her friend wrote.
Before the grieving mother replied, another text followed: “Let me know hun before I buy more stuff, save a bit of money before Xmas, you know how it is.”
The shocked mother then responded, saying: “I’m not doing OK, I’m heartbroken.
“I can’t believe you’re asking me at the moment, but yes I still have the things except for the blanket, he will be buried with it because it is warm and I thought it was stunning. I mean… I hope that’s OK for you?!?”
But her friend kept pushing and said she “needed to know before I spend anymore.”
“Is there a chance you have another blanky for him babe?” the friend replied. “What if I popped round tomorrow? I can pick it up then babe.”
The outraged mother replied with: “No! Don’t come here, please. The blanket is in with Benjamin! You can have the rest (of the things) I’ll drop them off at yours, don’t even think of coming here. My husband is fuming with these messages you are sending me a week after I lose my baby.
“They’re packed in a bag… I’ll leave them at yours. The blanket is with Benjamin he is having ‘use’ out of it thank you very much.”
Her friend then asked the grieving mom to cover the cost of the blanket if she doesn’t want to give it back.
One person commented: “I hope the woman blocks her out of her life entirely. What a garbage human.”
Another wrote: “Imagine harassing a grieving mother over stuff that amounts to pocket change.”
A third added: “This is tragic ,how could she ,it is so sad ,for the price of a blanket ,could she not leave the woman to grieve in peace ,so so sad .”
