A journalist who was traveling alongside President-elect, Joe Biden, tested positive for COVID-19 recently.
The news raised plenty of eyebrows, with many questioning the current health status of Mr. Biden and his team. The campaign trip that took place on Tuesday headed towards the state of Georgia.
At 78 years of age, the president-elect isn’t believed to be in a condition of risk of getting the deadly respiratory virus, currently. This news came in the form of a public press statement, which was released by Mr. Biden’s transition office.
In the same way, reports suggested how Joe Biden’s office made the public announcement at a time when he hosted another in-person event at Delaware. Here, he confirmed his nomination for transportation secretary, which was Pete Buttigieg.
On the other hand, news agencies did mention how the former vice president coughed and cleared his throat more than usual on Tuesday.
This was observed during his recent supportive speech for a pair of Democratic Senate nominees.
The event was in favor of a Georgia runoff election on January 5th. However, he constantly tested negative for the COVID-19 virus. The statement from the transition office made the announcement which said, “Today, a press member from the pool of people that traveled to Georgia with Joe Biden, received a positive PCR test for the COVID-19 virus. On that note, we began the contact tracing protocols quickly.”
In addition, the statement clearly specified how that member from the press was never in close contact with Joe Biden.
While the president-elect adhered to strict COVID-19 masking and social distancing measures, he did briefly remove his mask in Georgia. For this reason, there are recent pictures of him, maskless, circulating around social media platforms.
On that note, Mr. Biden’s maskless interactions prompted one reporter from the Washington Post to tweet: “this picture of Joe Biden without his mask briefly, is the real reason why Dr. Fauci wants him to get the COVID-19 vaccine, as soon as possible.
