A pair of men on a moped opened fire on the passenger side’s window on Sunday.
According to the cops, the passenger was in the livery cab’s back seat when he was fatally shot. Two men appear on a motorcycle while the cab stops at the red light.
According to the cops, the shooting incidents held on Saturday and Sunday had cost almost ten lives.
The incident took place in Elmhurst at around 1:30 am. The riders opened multiple fires on the rear glass, one of the shots strikes the victim in the chest. The ambulance took the victim to Elmhurst hospital immediately, where the doctors declared his death. The victim is identified as Diego Vasquez and was 27-year-old.
The victim was shot several times on the head, chest, and body. The gunfire incident took place at 81st street when the cab stopped by a red signal. The driver speeded the cab to seek help and reached the hospital with the injured passenger on the back seat.
Police caught the cab driver a few blocks away from the crime scene and questioned the bullet-ridden body in his cab. The driver of the cab cooperated with the authorities, and no one was arrested.
A similar incident occurred earlier on Sunday when Allan Ben died of a fatal gunshot in the chest and neck at Barnes Avenue, the Bronx. Sources said he was returning from a party when the sad tragedy took his life. The victim was pronounced dead at Jacobi Hospital.
The suspects are wanted, and no clue has yet been found.
Earlier at around 11 pm on Saturday, a young girl of age 14 was shot in her right thigh in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn. The victim was taken to Maimonides Hospital and is out of danger now. According to authorities, it looks like an unintended target. Similar incidents were observed earlier this year, where bystanders become the victim of gunshots.
The gunshot incidents started this Saturday when a man who was 28 was targeted at 2430 7th avenue. Sources said he is in stable condition.
