In celebration of Batman Day, scheduled for September 21st, DC fans have been active on all social media platforms, especially Twitter.
Yesterday, Unilad posted a poll on Twitter, asking fans to vote for ‘the best Batman of all time’.
Fans were asked to choose between Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, and Adam West. Other Batman actors, including George Clooney and Micheal Keaton, were voted out, leaving Bale, Affleck, and West as the top three.
Batman has been portrayed by eight actors in the last two centuries. This is excluding the number of voice actors to portray him in different animated television series.
In the Twitter poll, Christian Bale quickly became established as a fan favorite. The majority of fans, around 86% of those who voted, picked Bale over Affleck and West.
Christian Bale is famous for doing three live-action Batman movies: Batman Begins (2005), The Dark Knight (2008), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012). He has played the role more times than any other Batman actor.
During round two of the Twitter poll, fans were asked to choose from Keaton, Clooney, and Van Kilmer. Keaton’s Batman movie, directed by Tim Burton, was more controversial. Keaton won this round, taking 67% of the votes.
Fans found this ironic, considering the 50,000 fan letters sent to Warner Brothers to protest Keaton’s casting in his 1999 Batman film.
Round three was by far the most competitive. It asked fans to choose between Batman’s voice actors. Many fans were stuck between choosing Kevin Conroy (famous for voicing the character in ‘Batman: The Animated Series’), Will Arnett, and Lewis G. Wilson.
Wilson is the youngest voice actor to play an adult Batman. He came in last place, taking only 11.5% of votes. Arnett took 47% of the votes, winning against Conroy’s 42%. This was incredibly close.
However, Bale won the last poll, which pitted all poll winners against each other. He is undoubtedly the most popular Batman in the franchise.
Robert Pattinson was excluded from the poll as his movie is coming out in October 2021. Fans are excited to judge Pattinson’s performance.
