Attorney General Bill Barr claims Jacob Blake was committing a felony and was armed when he was shot in the back seven times by the Kenosha cop.
On Wednesday, Attorney General Bill Barr said that Jacob Blake was committing a felony, and he was armed when the Kenosha Police shot him seven times in his back.
While talking to CNN, he said there are distinctive differences in both Jacob Floyd and Jacob Blake’s cases. Upon asking, he said that George was already restrained and was handcuffed, he was not armed at all, but on the other side, Jacob was armed and was about to commit the felony, that’s the difference between these two cases.
Barr never described what kind of felony Blake was about to commit.
When Barr was asked about the rising concerns on the excessive force, he said that this country has a process, and we are investigating it, we will follow the process, and it will be fair to everyone who is involved, even the officers.
Bill Barr also rejected the claims of systematic racism in the police department. He said that in this country, this has become a common notion where African Americans think that they will be treated as criminals or suspects whenever they will be stopped by the police. He said that the portrayal of police officers that they are killing unarmed black men randomly is entirely false.
Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul said that Jacob Blake had a knife in his car, and he was going towards the car when police shot him on his back.
After hearing the statement, from Attorney General Bill Barr, Jacob Blake’s lawyer Ben Crump, Patrick Salvi, and B’Ivory Lamarr released the statement that says that Attorney Barr is misinformed about the case.
Jacob Blake’s lawyer said that police were aggressive from the start.
They also added Jacob’s back was at the police, and he was no threat to the police when they shot him, and it was never a matter of life and death for the officers.Local police union lawyer Brendan Matthews said that the police were responding to a complaint that Blake was trying to steal the keys and the car of the caller. He said that Blake also had an open warrant for sexual assault, but all charges have been dropped now.
The video of Jacob Blake when officers opened fire at him, clearly shows that Blake was unarmed.
