A heart wrenching bodycam video of George Floyd’s death was recently released.
The uncensored video showcases the final moments of his death, leaving many heartbroken beyond belief.
The video captures the entire account of events that took place on May 25th, a day that shook the world in more ways than one. This includes his arrest as well as Floyd’s death through the hands of Minneapolis police officials.
The video arises from a collection of footage relating to police bodycams that belong to the former police officers, convicted in the crime. Their names include both Thomas Lane as well as Alex J. Kueng.
The devastating video was released on Monday, August 10th, after recent orders from Hennepin’s County judge.
Moreover, the uncensored footage showcases where the entire event began, at Cup Foods grocery store, South Minneapolis. This is the exact location where George Floyd allegedly tried to buy products using a fake or counterfeited $20 note.
The video shows how the store’s staff member runs up to the police officers, showing the counterfeited dollar bill under question. He states: “Before they drive off. He’s parked right here. It’s a fake bill from the gentleman.”
That is the exact point in time where the police officers, Lane as well as Kueng, approach George Floyd’s vehicle. The car was parked on the other side of the road, across the store.
Similarly, the video shows how Floyd sits in the driver’s seat, while his former partner, Shawanda Hill sits at the back. Likewise, his friend Maurice Hill sits at the front seat.
Moments later, officer Lane taps onto the driver seat’s window, facing Floyd in regards to his alleged ‘fake dollar bill note.’ After the door opens, officer Lane points his gun towards Floyd’s head. While Floyd doesn’t make an attempt to come out immediately, he looks upset as well as frightened.
Next, Floyd faces questioning by police officials as he begs and pleads to avoid shooting at him. The footage clearly depicts how he never made any attempt to getaway.
Floyd repeatedly apologizes to the police officers, explaining how he was once shot similarly before. At the same time, he explains how his recovery from coronavirus and how he’d lost his mother recently.
With that said, his pleas for help fell on the deafest ears, as officers repeatedly swore at him. His final words were, “Please don’t shoot me, man. I just lost my mom, man. I’m so sorry.”
While the judge initially ruled against making the footage public, the decision was reversed after Lane’s attorney filed the videos as a source of evidence for charges’ dismissal.
