The Queen of England delivered a live broadcast to the British nation, alongside several family pictures on her desk.
However, Harry, Meghan, and baby Archie’s snaps were nowhere to be found.
On this occasion, both Harry and Meghan expressed their dismay over the Queen’s renowned Christmas speech, late last year.
Reports from the Finding Freedom suggested that the royal couple took it as a snub when their photograph wasn’t visible from the famous Buckingham Palace desk, situated in the Green Drawing Room. This is the usual location where the Queen makes her traditional address each year.
This event sparked another reason for dismay amongst the royal couple who have recently been feeling ‘quite left out’ by the institution.
It was almost as if they aren’t a ‘fundamental part of its future.
’ And it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the couple took it as ‘another sign’ that they should select their own path, as suggested by some book authors.
However, in 2018, there was a display of the Duke and Duchess’ pictures on the Monarch’s desk during her address. With that being said, the Queen chose to show only certain members of the royal family in 2019.
This included pictures of King George VI, her son Prince Charles and wife Camilla, alongside a family portrait of the beloved Cambridges.
Meanwhile, the book has quoted that according to Palace sources, ‘they wanted to illustrate the line of succession to the throne.’
On the other hand, the Queen’s speech did include some footage of the Monarch and Prince Phillip interacting with baby Archie for the first time. Likewise, Prince Harry, Meghan, and her mother were also seen in the background, looking on.
Queen Elizabeth remarked the following on the auspicious occasion:
‘I am delighted to welcome our eighth great-grandchild.’
Hence, it’s still unclear whether or not this was a deliberate action or one that was truly focused upon the line of succession.
