A Wisconsin public school teacher has been placed on leave after stating on Twitter that Rush Limbaugh’s cancer “awesome.
”
Travis Sarandos is an English teacher from Milwaukee High School of the Arts, and thought it was a good idea to share his thoughts about radio personality’s fate.
The said Twitter account was deleted, but in it he wrote, “Limbaugh absolutely should have to suffer from cancer. it’s awesome that he’s dying, and hopefully it is as quick as it is painful.”
Sarandos was said to be replying to another tweet, whose author hopes for Limbaugh’s full recovery and would continue to advocate for affordable health care for everyone.
His comment caught attention when his tweet got the attention of radio host Mark Belling, and posted it on his blog.
The Milwaukee Public Schools caught wind of the tweet, and initially said in an email that Sarandos was not speaking in behalf of the district, students, or any of the staff members.
They then confirmed a few hours later that Sarandos was placed on leave pending an investigation.
Rush Limbaugh has been called the nemesis of the American left, and his appeal is associated with his delight in baiting liberals.
Limbaugh received the Presidential Medal of Freedom during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.
He announced to his listeners earlier this week that he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and will be missing a number of his programs while receiving treatment.
His announcement drew the attention of his supporters, voicing gratitude and support for Limbaugh.
Vice President Mike Pence called Limbaugh on his tweet, “a National Treasure who has made a difference on the airwaves of America for 30 years’ and said his includes his recovery in his prayers.
On the other hand, several people expressed their delight that a “racist” and “hateful” man will soon meet his end.
